I like talking about mental health and art. Both go hand in hand for me. For some people like me, art therapy shows very promising results just like psychotherapy.
Art therapy involves the use of creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, coloring, or sculpting to help people express themselves artistically and examine the psychological and emotional undertones in their art.
I have said this before and I’ll say it again. Most people around the world CANNOT afford a psychologist – but most people can easily afford a book and a pen.
Therapy needs to be accessible. It’s as simple as that. Most solutions for mental health problems are ridiculously expensive and inaccessible for majority of the world’s population.
…And of course, Art therapy doesn’t work for all kinds of mental illness but it is excellent for fixing certain kinds of mental health problems.
If you’re mind-f*cked with stress, social anxiety or depression – try getting a colouring/sketch book and filling it up! It can do wonders for some people! 🙂
